Philosophy"If you can't see what you're looking for, see what's there." The Rosen Method is based on a belief that the mind, body, emotions, and spirit are reflected in each other. As a practitioner of the Rosen Method I gently touch the body and use words to assist my clients to feel, to witness, and to listen to themselves. Feeling the shifts in muscle tension and breath connects the client to the various ways they actually shape themselves with posture, attitude, and belief. This choiceto experience ourselves directly and in relationshipcan allow the possibility of greater self-acceptance. When we allow ourselves to be present in an accepting way, we are open to a deep relaxation. I believe that there is a relationship between the health of an individual and the health of the community and the society to which that individual belongs, which in turn is connected to the health of the earth that sustains us all. This interconnectedness can be experienced through the body. We can learn this interconnectedness through the experience of realizing where we put our attention in our lives and how feeling our individual inner process is crucial to living our lives. This experience can help us live with all of who we are, which is the gift we offer the world. Training & EducationI have been in private practice doing bodywork since 1984. I am a Rosen Method Bodywork Practitioner, certified by the Rosen Institute in 2000, after four years of training at the Rosen Method Center Southwest. I am also a Rosen Method Movement Teacher certified in 2004 and I am studying to become a Movement Teacher Trainer. I offer weekly Rosen Movement classes (see schedule below). I am a member of RMPA (Rosen Method Professional Association) and IMA (International Movement Educators Assocation). My other training includes massage, Trager Psychophysical Integration, and Craniosacral Therapy. My work is further informed by personal experience and informal study of Iyengar Yoga, Hakomi, Body-Mind Centering, dance therapy, Vipassana meditation, modern dance, and various other disciplines. I also have personal experience healing from cancer. I offer sessions in Authentic Movement/Contemplative Dance. I have received a certificate of completion, in 2004, from Daphne Lowell and Alton Wasson's Year Long Program in Contemplative Dance. Fees$70 for a one-hour session. Sliding fee scale $50$85 for a one-hour session. The sliding fee scale is to allow flexibility in negotiating fees based on need and incomesome clients may be able to afford to pay a higher fee, while others a lower fee. Other Things to Know About Rosen SessionsPeople receive Rosen bodywork for many reasons. Some might be seeking relief from physical pain, knowing that there is something missing in their lives and talk therapy hasnt quite gotten to what that might be, or wanting a deeper connection to themselves and others. I work with adults only. This work is not recommended for actively chemically dependent or psychotic adults. The Rosen Method is not psychotherapy but works well in conjunction with it. Sessions are one hour in length. Clients usually come weekly or biweekly, but also can benefit from a single session. No oils are used. Touch may be received through clothes or directly on the skin, as the client wishes. |

In these one-hour classes we move all the joints of the body in easy, fun, and simple ways. We use music to help us move and to feel ourselves in the movements.
By moving together as a group we offer each other support and community. Because she was a physical therapist, Marion Rosen designed the class to lubricate the joints, relax the muscles, and allow more ease in breathing.
Rosen Movement classes are about being aware of your body moving, feeling your body moving, and relaxing your body as it moves.
